Lamenting Working Out and Menu Plan Monday

I have already failed myself. I knew this shit would happen. Oh let me count the ways! I have eaten fa(s)t food. I have consumed sodas. I have veered from healthier menu options. And I haven't started any of the Tone It Up workouts.

However, my general eating habits have gotten better. I've mostly eaten whole grains (but I mistakenly bought a bread with HFCS in it wtf). I've mostly been drinking water. I've been incorporating fresh fruits and vegetables into my diet.

On workout days, my body betrays itself by waking up before the alarm and light sleeping. Oh, wait a second, I thought I said I wasn't working out. Oh wait, no I didn't! Shut up! I'm still following the Couch to 5K program! I still have my running buddies! I also try to walk a loop or two around the mall but I have a kid dragging her heels behind me.

I am anxiously awaiting the day that running will no longer hurt my body. Jogging just hurts my knees and hip. But the recovery time is a lot quicker than it was - already! Breathing is ridiculous. I need to train THAT part of the running too. Shitballs!

And then there is such wonderful support out there from businesses that don't give a shit about you. Who knew this even existed?!
Can't read it? It says: "Come into any participating store on Saturday January 17 and declare 'I'm ditching my New Year's resolution' and receive a FREE regular or large ice cream treat with the purchase of a regular or large ice cream treat!" Not only to they want you to get one, but TWO damned ice creams! Sorry, not sorry, but fuck that shit.

Why can we be supported? Offer us a low-fat yogurt! Encourage healthier portions! Give us motivation to stay the course and follow through on our goals! No! No, Marble Slab! You will not ruin my lifestyle change!

I also really like KIND snacks!

I take this here fancy schmancy granola and plop a handful of it atop a dollop of non-fat greek yogurt. Drizzle some honey and sprinkle on some flax seed and it's pretty tasty!
I also like the kind bars as a pre-jog snack breakfast thing.

¼ tsp sugar
¼ tsp oregano
¼ tsp black pepper
½ tsp salt
¾ tsp ground cumin
2 tbsp chili powder

Instructions
In a medium skillet, cook ground beef over medium-high heat until evenly brown. Drain.
In a slow-cooker, combine cooked ground beef, tomato sauce, tomato paste, water, beans, cayenne pepper, sugar, oregano, pepper, salt, cumin, and chili powder {AKA: dump everything in!}. Mix thoroughly. Cook on medium heat for 4 hours.
