I'm Lena. I'm a 30-something year old wife to Ryan and mother to my little girl, Ivy.
In my past life, I was a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher to secondary students. Which means I taught "home economics" to middle school and high school students. This includes, but is not limited to: parenting, child development, fashion design, interior and exterior housing and commercial design, culinary arts and food science, personal development and career training.
Ryan and I are high school sweethearts and have been together since 1996 and married since 2003. After I graduated college, we moved to North Texas. I got my teaching certification and a job offer in 2008 that moved us to North East Texas. Ryan got his MAT and certification as well and we worked at the same high school for 3 years. I got an interview and job offer that moved us back to North Texas. Ryan got a job in the same ISD as well.
I enjoy reading books, watching movies and listening to music. I also like to do a lot of little crafty projects like quilting, knitting, and making soap, jewelry and hair flowers. I also enjoy letterboxing, Zumba fitness and burlesque.
About Making Life
In 2009, we decided to add to our family. I was put on bed rest during my 35th week of pregnancy and when boredom ensued, I created this blog. I wanted to keep my friends and family updated on my pregnancy and the baby. Now, I'm just dabbling in the mommy blogging world. This blog features Ivy updates and general information on my hobbies (cooking, sewing, general crafting... etc). I've also gotten into vlogging and I post those monstrosities here as well.
What's with the attitude?
First off, I don't live by anyone's rules but my own. I'm tired of living how other people want me to live. So, I'm going to write what I want to write. If you can't appreciate sarcasm, then I feel sorry for you. I love my family. I'm just trying to find humor in things.
